Shred guitar or shredding is a lead playing style for the electric guitar, based on various fast soloing techniques. Critics have stated that shred guitar is associated with "sweep-picked arpeggios, diminished and harmonic minor scales, finger-tapping and whammy-bar abuse", while others contend that it is a fairly subjective cultural term used by guitarists and enthusiasts of guitar music. It is commonly used with reference to heavy metal guitar playing, where it is associated with rapid tapping solos and special effects such as whammy bar "dive bombs". The term is sometimes used with reference to playing outside this idiom, particularly jazz fusion and blues.

(This is purely about speed!) At the moment, I'm practicing for a Guinness World Record "Fastest Female Guitarist", here's a preview of what I have to do for the title. There is no current record, but there is a minimum speed I have to play the song at. Wish me luck!

Jason Becker tribute "Flowing Thoughts" By Jacqueline Mannering

Jason Eli Becker (born July 22, 1969) is an American neo-classical metal guitarist and composer. At the age of 16, he became part of the Shrapnel Records-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman. They released Speed Metal Symphony in 1987 andGo Off! in 1988. Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Becker began doing solo work, having released his first album Perpetual Burn in 1988, also through Shrapnel. He later joined David Lee Roth's band and recorded one album with him, A Little Ain't Enough. However, Becker's success was hampered by his then-diagnosed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease and he was given three to five years to live. In 1996, Becker eventually lost the ability to speak and now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Despite his disability, he continues composing by using a computer and has since released with ShrapnelCollection, a "best of" album of his favorite songs and three new songs.
